Stud Clip Removal

Removal of Stud Clips On Domestic Vehicles

Most American built vehicles are equipped with a retaining clip at the base of the studs. Stud retaining clips were designed to secure the brake rotor or brake drum to the hub during assembly, therefore they serve no purpose to the end user since the clamping force of the wheels and lug nuts keep the brake assembly together once the wheels are installed and torque down. Failure to remove the stud clips can cause serious vibration issues and even a road hazard when aftermarket wheels are installed. If your vehicle is equipped with these stud clips, they need to be removed before installing your new set of forged billet wheels.
